This full-day preconference session will closely align with strands two and three of Visible Learning, “Using Assessments that Make an Impact” and “Instruction That Makes an Impact.” Larry Ainsworth, author of Common Formative Assessments 2.0, will engage participants in learning how to:
(1) derive the unit learning intentions and student success criteria from “unwrapped” Priority Standards, (2) determine learning progressions—the building blocks of instruction—that lay out a clear pathway to the success criteria, (3) plan quick progress checks—short formative assessments matched to each learning progression—that reveal student progress toward achieving the success criteria, (4) use the feedback from quick progress checks to adjust instruction and how students use the feedback to adjust their learning strategies.
