Kathryn Barker
Kate Barker is a seasoned principal, teacher, coach, author, and speaker with over 30 years of experience providing equitable opportunities for students and families in highly diverse and economically challenged communities. Her passion is creating school environments that have a vibrant, fun, and loving culture infused with high expectations and purposeful structures. She has been named her state’s principal of the year and recognized as a national distinguished principal for her purposeful work with multi-tiered systems of support for academics, behavior, and social-emotional learning. Kate holds a master’s in special education and is a champion for teaching educators and families inclusive practices so all students can succeed academically and socially in the general education setting. In addition, Kate serves as a professor for collegiate administrative programs where her emphasis is instructional leadership in the areas of curriculum, assessment, school improvement, and supervision. As a practitioner, Kate understands the challenges that educators face in our changing world. She delivers practical strategies, grounded in research in a dynamic and engaging presenting style.
